YEREVAN, August 7. /ARKA/. The number of passengers handled by the Zvartnots International Airport in Armenia's capital Yerevan has slashed by 98% due to the coronavirus crisis, but the management hopes for the best and is preparing to apply modern technologies to ensure the safety of passengers and employees.

"The coronavirus crisis has caused tremendous damage to millions of people around the world, thousands of companies and organizations. The pandemic has also affected the Zvartnots International Airport: our 3 million passenger traffic has slashed by 98%," Satenik Hovhannisyan, a spokesperson for the airport, said in a Facebook post.

She said that until life returns to normal, the airport has pledged to provide not only safe flights for citizens, but also all the necessary conditions to protect them from coronavirus. To this end, according to her, aviation security officers, using modern "smart" helmets will remotely take the temperature of passengers, safely disinfect their luggage and hand luggage.

In addition, due to the special signs and protective dividers installed at the airport, the necessary social distance will be provided both between passengers and between employees.

"We are ready to confront all the complexities of the pandemic and are confident that we will overcome it by joint efforts. Our and your travels are just beginning, wonderful moments of life are still ahead," Hovhannisyan said. -0-
