Smugglers’ plans foiled by Armenian customs officers

Attempts to smuggle medicaments, cigarettes, phone sets and cars in large quantities to Armenia and out of it were foiled at Bagratashen border checkpoint in Jan-June 2014, the press office of Armenian finance ministry reported on Monday.

YEREVAN, August 19./ARKA/. Attempts to smuggle medicaments, cigarettes, phone sets and cars in large quantities to Armenia and out of it were foiled at Bagratashen border checkpoint in Jan-June 2014, the press office of Armenian finance ministry reported on Monday.   

Customs officers prevented smuggling of 26 kilogram of medicaments, over 107 kilograms of detergents, 21.5 kilograms of biologically active additives, more than 330 phone sets, some 28,000 packs of cigarettes and 1 kilogram of tobacco. 

The goods were hidden in special secret places in private cars. Customs officers also foiled an attempt to bring a car with forged Armenian plate numbers to the country. --0----
