Smuggling attempts foiled by Armenian customs officers

YEREVAN, September 26. /ARKA/. Officers of the Stet Revenue Committee have foiled some smuggling attempts at Bagratashen, Bavra and Meghri border checkpoints, the press office of the committee reported on Monday.

YEREVAN, September 26. /ARKA/. Officers of the Stet Revenue Committee have foiled some smuggling attempts at Bagratashen, Bavra and Meghri border checkpoints, the press office of the committee reported on Monday.
In particular, at Bagratashen border checkpoint the agency officers have prevented entry of 1.5 tons of Turkish and Georgian tomatoes into Armenia.
To dodge obligatory customs procedures the smugglers hid tomatoes in special places in their trucks.
Armenian customs officers have prevented the illegal import of about 600 kilograms of detergents and 200 liters of engine oil.
They also found some undeclared goods, including household appliances, devises, foods and jewelry, as well as improperly declared goods and breaches of customs rules. --0---
