Tashir group opens new shopping gallery in Yerevan

Tashir Group, owned by Samvel Karapetyan, a Russia-based billionaire of Armenian origin, inaugurated last Saturday the Tashir Street Shopping Gallery in downtown Yerevan Northern Avenue.
YEREVAN, May 16. /ARKA/. Tashir Group, owned by Samvel Karapetyan, a Russia-based billionaire of Armenian origin, inaugurated last Saturday the Tashir Street Shopping Gallery in downtown Yerevan Northern Avenue.
The opening ceremony of the new shopping center, said to cost $14 million, was attended by Yerevan mayor Taron Margaryan, who said the opening of the shopping center and an underground parking on the North Avenue was provided for by a memorandum of cooperation signed between the Yerevan Municipality and Tashir Group.
"Today we need to create new jobs and the new shopping center will do so, while the underground parking for 200 cars will solve the parking problem in the center of Yerevan," he said.
Margaryan highly appreciated the cooperation of the municipality and the private sector, emphasizing the importance of such large-scale investment programs.
In turn, a representative of Tashir Group Vahe Karapetyan noted that the new shopping center will provide jobs to about 300 people.
Karapetyan said the total trade area of Tashir Street Shopping Gallery housing 70 stores is 12 thousand square meters. The center will have also Armenia's first non-food hypermarket.
Tashir Group is implementing a number of other city improvement projects, including a reconstruction of a public park at the intersection of Saryan Street and Mashtots Avenue and construction of a new building for Yerevan Circus.
Tashir Group consists of about 200 companies, including 30 shopping malls and two dozen office buildings and hotels across Russia. With total assets estimated by Forbes magazine at $4.5 billion, Samvel Karapetyan is one of the world’s richest Armenians. -0-
