Website to promote Armenian businesswomen

A website designed to promote Armenian businesswomen was launched today by the Association of Young Women of Armenia. Lilit Asatryan, head of the association, said the purpose of the site located at www.businesswoman.am is to stimulate the entrepreneurship activities of Armenian women.

YEREVAN, April 12. /ARKA/. A website designed to promote Armenian businesswomen was launched today by the Association of Young Women of Armenia. Lilit Asatryan, head of the association, said the purpose of the site located at www.businesswoman.am is to stimulate the entrepreneurship activities of Armenian women.
The website is part of "Development of women entrepreneurship in Armenia", project implemented by the Association since last year with the assistance of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia. The project is designed to help Armenian women entrepreneurs quickly integrate into the economic life of the country, establish new business relations, demonstrate their achievements and inform the public about their activities. The project is implemented throughout the territory of Armenia.
Head of Public Relations Department of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, Karen Robli, said at the presentation ceremony that the United States’ government supports the implementation of such projects because they are a tool for business women to achieve progress. The project stipulates conduction of also round tables, training courses and competitions for women entrepreneurs.
The Association of Young Women of Armenia was established in 2004. Its purpose is to promote the activities of women in political, economic, social, educational and cultural spheres and promote women entrepreneurs in small and medium businesses.
According to Grant Thornton buisnes report for 2012, about 38% of senior positions in Armenia are held by women, who mostly hold the positions of human resource (HR) (27%) and financial directors (25%). -0-
