Armenia will have to get ready to overcome the crisis in the coming two years, RA Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan said today at the opening of the forum on Armenia’s capital markets.
YEREVAN, February 27. /ARKA/. Armenia will have to get ready to overcome the crisis in the coming two years, RA Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan said today at the opening of the forum on Armenia’s capital markets.

“Many countries are in dualistic moods due to the economic and financial crisis. Some countries with well developed capital markets are disappointed and their mood is transferred to developing markets,” the minister said. “No need to take these moods automatically. We should try to understand what prospects the country has, including investment perspectives,” he continued.

When NASDAQ OMX Armenia entered the local stock exchange market a year ago, most people were skeptical about its prospects, Yeritsyan said, pointing out considerable progress in the stock exchange and large-scale investments in the sector.

The minister emphasized the role of capital markets in income distribution. “Lacking a capital market means to miss a crucially important mechanism in the modern world,” the minister said.

To boost the capital market, Armenia will develop the program of pension accounts and implement principles of corporate management and science intensive economy.

The organizer of the forum is Grant Thornton Amyot. The event is sponsored by the Central Bank of Armenia, RA Ministry of Economy, Union of Banks of Armenia, NASDAQ OMX Armenia, AmCham (American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia) and USAID/CAPS. –0
