Armenia is interested in neighboring countries’ shared participation in building the new nuclear power unit, Armenian Premier Tigran Sargsyan told ARKA Agency.
YEREVAN, March 2. /ARKA/. Armenia is interested in neighboring countries’ shared participation in building the new nuclear power unit, Armenian Premier Tigran Sargsyan told ARKA Agency.

Sargsyan suggested that while establishing general property rights proportion, certain part will be put in free circulation.

Earlier, the Premier said that Armenia is interested to see Russia and Turkey participating in the project.

While summarizing the outcome of Armenian delegation’s visit to Moscow, Sargsyan reported that Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan met with General Director of “Rosatom” state atomic energy state corporation Sergey Kiriyenko. The sides clarified the schedule of the measures to be implemented.

Russian partners voiced their interest to participate in the construction project which is also of benefit to Armenia, the Premier said.

Armenian Premier also reported that the construction operator will be known on March 13 after the tender announced is completed.

Armenia is planning to build a new NPP unit with capacity of approximately 1,000 megawatt costing about $5bln. In 2006 Armenian Parliament revoked the state monopoly for owning new nuclear power units in order to attract foreign capital for the project.  –0--
