Armenia’s agriculture sector accounted for 14.8% growth in Jan-July 2015, Armenian Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan said on Wednesday.

YEREVAN, September 9. / ARKA /. Armenia’s agriculture sector accounted for 14.8% growth in Jan-July 2015, Armenian Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan said on Wednesday.
He told journalists that gross product in agriculture segment of the economy amounted to AMD 328.4 billion in Jan-July 2015.
He said that plant-growing industry showed a 28.6% year-on-year growth (AMD 145.4 billion) at the mentioned period, and cattle-breeding segment recorded 4.2% growth (AMD 183 billion).
The minister said that the government support, such as provision of preferential loans, diesel, seeds and fertilizers to farmers, as well as expansion of farmland areas, weather and farmers’ hard work has contributed a great deal to the agriculture sector’s growth.
According to the National Statistical Service, economic growth in Armenia was recorded at 5.1% in the second quarter of this year.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said that the country has already ensured 4% economic growth for the first half of this year.
In the government budget for 2015, GDP growth in Armenia is projected at 4.1%. ---0----
