A significant part of opposition-proposed “100 Steps” program is not bad, Aristomene Varoudakis, the head of the World Bank’s Yerevan office, said Wednesday at a press conference.

YEREVAN, March 17. /ARKA/. A significant part of opposition-proposed “100 Steps” program is not bad, Aristomene Varoudakis, the head of the World Bank’s Yerevan office, said Wednesday at a press conference.

He said that maybe not all the 100 proposals included in the program were good, but many of them were good indeed.

The program worked out by Hrant Bagratyan, a former prime minister, is aimed at creating equal conditions for all taxpayers, strengthening market mechanisms and redistributing primary incomes, diminishing the role of the government here, preventing revaluation of the national currency and growth of the state debt.

Varoudakis proposed to organize open discussions over the economic policy.

He said the World Bank would support such discussions.

When asked whether he found implementation of the program possible, he replied that it could happen in the event of the government’s willingness.

Varoudakis said that cooperates closely with all ministries, especially with the economy ministry.

He welcomed the steps taken by Armenian government to ward off the crisis and said that the World Bank supports the government in its efforts. -0--
