Clean environment to be tradition in Armenia - Prime Minister

07.06.2010, 22:25
A clean environment must become a tradition in Armenia, said Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
YEREVAN, June 7. / ARKA /. A clean environment must become a tradition in Armenia, said Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
According to the decision of the Government of Armenia adopted on March 9, 2010, in order to develop a program, an interdepartmental working group "Chistaya Rodina" was formed.

The first step of the program is the "Tri Mosta" (Three Bridges), which includes improving and cleaning the site of three bridges, adjacent to the Hrazdan Gorge - the Victory, Kievian and Davitashen bridges.

"We must teach our children and grandchildren that we can not pollute the nature, our beloved city, and it should become a tradition and a habit, I also think it is an essential element of patriotism. The concept of "Chistaya Rodina" has enough serious content," Sargsyan told the reporters on Saturday after the opening of the program.

The Prime Minister also stressed the need for consistency in the direction of action in all regions of the republic, and thanked the youth of the movement "Miasin" (Together) to promote the program.

"I believe that cleanliness is pleasant for us all. The more important is the cleanliness of the streets, houses, yards, homes and the area from which we want to start the "Chistaya Rodina". This was a sole decision by the Prime Minister and the Government, and we are pleased that the government itself is an example. I think that this should not be the only step, but have a continuous improvement. And we need to educate young people with the approach that the land, the water, the sun, the air belongs to all," the Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan added in this regard.

Coordinator of the Three Bridges is the Ministry of Nature Protection of Armenia.

The metropolitan city council, the Emergencies Ministry, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), community organizations Miasin, Chistiy Yerevan and Bruntsk, the youth wing of the Republican Party have also joined.  --0-
