Nagorno-Karabakh parliament committee approves revision of 2010 budget

A Nagorno-Karabakh parliament committee on finance, budget and economic issues has approved a bill designed to revise some parts of the Nagorno-Karabakh budget for 2010.
YEREVAN, September 14, /ARKA/. A Nagorno-Karabakh parliament committee on finance, budget and economic issues has approved a bill designed to revise some parts of the Nagorno-Karabakh budget for 2010, the press office of Nagorno-Karabakh parliament told Novosti-Armenia news agency.

It quoted finance minister Spartak Tevosian, who serves also as a vice prime minister. as saying that the changes to the law on 2010 budget were prompted by the need to solve some social and economic problems.

Particularly, to mitigate the aftereffect of the increased price of natural gas for households the government will raise pensions by 2,500 Drams from November 1. Earlier it had increased by 30% the amount of monthly benefits granted to several categories of citizens.

The government will also increase the amount of allocation to stimulate birth rate. The move was prompted by the increased number of births in Nagorno-Karabakh and the earlier earmarked funds will not be enough to implement a set of relating programs. The government wants also to increase the volume of funds earmarked for capital construction and repair of strategic facilities. Overall the proposed bill asks for almost 4.6 billion Drams in additional funding this year. The government will raise the funds from local sources. ($1 – 363.33 Drams). -0-
