YEREVAN, October 11. /ARKA/. Armenia attaches importance to attraction of investments from Slovenia, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at a joint briefing with his Slovenian counterpart, Danilo Tuerk.

On Monday, Armenia and Slovenia signed four agreements on economic and cultural cooperation.
“The signed agreements lay favorable groundwork for development of relations in various areas,” Sargsyan said.

He views the agreement on lifting the necessity of visas for diplomats as another step toward simplification of visa regime with EU countries.

The Armenian president said that Armenia is impressed at Slovenia’s economic indicators – this country is on of the leaders among new EU member countries.

He also stressed the importance of humanitarian cooperation.

The head of state said that the first visit of his Slovenian counterpart to Armenia will give a new impetus to development of relations between the two countries and spur their cooperation in the European Union’s Eastern Partnership Program.

Armenian-Slovenian trade turnover amounted to $9.5 million in 2009.

It totaled $35 million over the period between 2005 and 2009.

Armenia exports alcoholic drinks, spirit and vinegar to Slovenia, and imports drugs, volatile oils, perfumes, cosmetics and equipment from Slovenia.-0---
