YEREVAN, February 28, /ARKA/. Armenian prime minister Tigran Sarkisian urged his country fellows to show zero tolerance to corruption as he spoke to a group of Armenian journalists in a late Friday televised news conference.
He made the remarks in response to a journalist’s words that those who give bribes and those who take them no longer feel safe in Armenia now.
‘This is of course a positive fact, but we have to move forward to a situation in which the people who do not give bribes and people who do not take them will feel comfortable. This is not going to be a painless shift and the journalists may help it,’ he said.
The prime minister said anti-graft reforms are implemented in three directions – improvement of administration, raising the responsibility of officials and ensuring their transparent work, particularly, they and affiliated persons must submit income statements. In addition to it, the public must show intolerance to corruption practices, he said. -0-
