YEREVAN, March 31. /ARKA/. Reduced gas tariffs are defined for 49.5 thousand Armenian vulnerable families.

Earlier President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan announced that gas price up to 300 cubic meters for vulnerable population will reduce to 30% which will allow them to “solve their problems”.

“Reduction of gas tariffs will be in force since April 1”, Board Chairman, General Director of “ArmRosgasprom” Vardan Harutyunyan says.

ArmRosgasprom” has the list of socially vulnerable families, of which 49.5 thousand are gas consumers.

Armenian Social Welfare Minister Artur Grigoryan said that the ministry has provided the list of about 105 thousand vulnerable families registered in Armenia.

“ArmRosgasprom” informs that reduction of gas tariffs will be directed at the savings in the result of re-equipment and reconstruction in energy sphere, particularly due to modernization of Yerevan thermal-power station.

“Gas consumers using up to 300 cubic meters of gas will get coupons and pay 100 drams (about 0.27 dollars) for each cubic meter. The subscribers using more than 300 cubic meters will pay the operating tariff of 132 drams (about 0.35 dollars).

Armenia and Russia have certain agreements on changing gas prices in a certain period of time. According to the agreement on the delivery of Russian gas to Armenia, gas price for Armenia on the border was $154 for 1 thousand cubic meters including VAT from April 1, 2009 instead of earlier $110. From April 1, 2010 gas price on the border is $180 instead of earlier envisaged $200 for 1 thousand cubic meters

By the decision of Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia (PSRC) tariff for one cubic meter consumed gas increased by 37.5% to 132 drams (0.34 dollars) versus existing 96 drams (0.25 dollars). For enterprises using over 10 thousand cubic meters monthly, the tariff increased by 13% to 243.13 dollars for each thousand cubic meters of consumed gas instead of earlier 215 dollars. --0--
