1.2 billion kilowatt/hour electric power generated in Armenia in Jan-Feb 2011

National Statistical Service of Armenia reported Friday that 1.2 billion kilowatt/hour electric power has been generated in Armenia in January and February 2011 – 21.3% year-on-year growth.
YEREVAN, April 1. /ARKA/. National Statistical Service of Armenia reported Friday that 1.2 billion kilowatt/hour electric power has been generated in Armenia in January and February 2011 – 21.3% year-on-year growth.
The electric energy generated by thermal power plants grew 90% in Jan and Feb 2011, compared with the same period a year earlier, to 420 million kilowatt/hour.
Hydro power plants generated 289.8 million kilowatt/hour for two months of this year – 8.6% year-on-year reduction.
Armenian Nuclear Power Plant accounted for 42.8% of the power produced in Armenia in this year’s January and February 2011. The plant built up its output by 9.7%, compared with the same period of the previous year.
Thermal plants’ power made up 33.8% of the country’s total electric power, and that of hydro power plants constituted 23.3% of it.
Wind power plants produced 1 million kilowatt/hour in January and February 2011 (33.3% year-on-year contraction) accounting for 0.08% of the total electric energy produced in Armenia for the mentioned two months.
According to the statistical report, 119,000 GJ of thermal energy was generated in the country in Jan-Feb 2011 – 61.6% year-on-year decline. -0-
