Duration of water supply in 2012 to increase in Yerevan and the regions of Armenia

On Wednesday, Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) approved new program indicators on the increase of the duration of water supply in Yerevan and the regions of Armenia.
YEREVAN, April 20. /ARKA/. On Wednesday, Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) approved new program indicators on the increase of the duration of water supply in Yerevan and the regions of Armenia.
According to Yerevan water supply operator –the company “Yerevan-Jur”, 68% of population of Yerevan will have 24-hour water supply (currently – 58.3%) in 2012. The company is also obliged to provide continuous water supply for 73% of Yerevan consumers from 7:00-24:00 on a daily basis and for all the consumers – minimum 12-hour water supply.
“Yerevan-Jur” will provide 24-hour water supply to 38.6% of population of the city Yeghvard and adjoining villages to Yerevan. Continuous water supply will be provided by 38.6%, 12-hour – 49.7%, 8-hour – 73.2%, 6-hour – 74.5% and 4-hour – 100% of consumers.
The second largest city of Armenia- Gyumri (operator “Shirak-waterchannel”) will provide 24-hour water supply by 18.7% vs. current 18.5% and the city Vanadzor - (“Lori-waterchannel”) – 21.4% vs. 19.3%.
In 2012 “Armwaterchannel” will provide 34% of subscribers with 24-hour water supply at the current level of 33.5% and the company “Nor akunk” (serving Armavir region) – 83.1% (vs. 81.7%).
In recent years, average water supply in Armenia increased by four hours reaching 20-21 hours in Yerevan and from 9 to 13 hours in the regions.
At present, there are five water supply operators in Armenia - “Yerevan-Jur”, “Armwaterchannel”, “Lori-waterchannel”, Shirak-waterchannel” and “Nor akunk”.-0-
