YEREVAN, July 6. / ARKA /. The Armenian gasoline market does not have time to respond to global decline in fuel prices, Mikhail Baghdasarov, the owner of Armenia’s national carrier Armavia, said today at a news conference.

"Armenian companies do not have time to respond to the decline in world fuel prices due to the timing of purchases, as well as due to the cost of its transportation and as a result they do not always have time to bring fuel into the country at a low price," Bagdasarov said, whose MIKA company is one of the largest oil traders.

As a result world prices fluctuations do not have any affect on local market. Baghdasarov said also there is a decline in gasoline demand in Armenia, due to the increase in world fuel prices, as well as to the increasing number of vehicles that run on natural gas.

Prices for gasoline and diesel fuel in Armenia in May of this year compared to the same period of 2010 increased by 13.7% and 21.6% respectively. The price of petrol in Yerevan in May 2011 averaged 452.7 drams per one liter, in Gyumri - 453.6 drams, and in Vanadzor - 453 drams. The highest price was registered in Dilijan - 466.6 drams, and the lowest - in Talin - 451.6 drams.
