Spayka to open new food factory in Yerevan

In 20 days Armenian Spayka company will open a new factory in Yerevan to process agricultural produces and produce various kinds of canned food, Spayka chief director and founder, David Kazarian, told reporters today.
YEREVAN, July 15. / ARKA /. In 20 days Armenian Spayka company will open a new factory in Yerevan to process agricultural produces and produce various kinds of canned food, Spayka chief director and founder, David Kazarian, told reporters today.

He said the factory has the capacity to produce 42 million pieces of canned and packaged products a year. He said the plant is owned by Spayka, but the produces will be manufactured under the brands Araratfood and Araratfruit. According to Kazarian, the new factory will have to hire about 450 people and will pay an average salary of 130,000 drams.

"We have planned to invest a total of $100 million into expansion of the company and half of this amount has already been invested. In addition to the factory, we will build a cold storage facility with a capacity to hold 12 thousand tons of produces and greenhouses on 12 hectares of land", he said.

Head of Spayka project management department Karen Baghdasaryan said deep-frozen fruits and vegetables produced by the company sell well in Russia and some other CIS countries. He said the company runs the largest fleet of freight trucks in the South Caucasus.

A year ago the company employed only 65 people, and today their number has reached 450 and in a year their number is expected to rise to 1,500. Last February the government granted Spayka a 3-year VAT deferment, stipulated by the law for companies which invest 300 million Drams and more into import of equipment.

Spayka LLC was founded in 2001, and today it is one of the leading cargo transportation companies of Armenia. Since inception, the emphasis has been on freight handling, security, servicing and customer satisfaction. Presently, Spayka carries out international road shipments to CIS and European states. The company is a member of the Association of International Road Carriers of Armenia (AIRCA) which grants the company a right to use TIR CARNET books according to the international Custom system TIR.” (IVECO). -0-
