Armenian prime minister meets IMF mission chief for Armenia

Armenian prime minister Tigran Sarkisian met Tuesday with a delegation led by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief for Armenia Mark Horton, the government press service told ARKA.
YEREVAN, September 21. / ARKA /. Armenian prime minister Tigran Sarkisian met Tuesday with a delegation led by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief for Armenia Mark Horton, the government press service told ARKA. It said the meeting focused on key directions of Armenia’s economic policy and development prospects.

Horton was said to have briefed Tigran Sarkisian on the course of Extended Fund Facility and Extended Credit Facility IMF programs in Armenia, as well as the results of the IMF Mission visit. In this context, Mr. Horton noted a significant decrease of inflation in Armenia, also giving positive assessment to State Revenue Committee and finance ministry’s package of reforms for 2012. In conclusion, Mr. Horton expressed readiness to continue assistance to state programs.

In turn, referring to the programs of his government, Sarkisian said that during a visit to Brussels September 19 he presented to EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule the agenda of the next stage of reforms in 33 areas. -0-
