Auchan Group ready to make large investments in Yerevan

Jean-Paul Filliat, international franchising director for Auchan Group’s chain of hypermarkets, told Armenian capital mayor Karen Karapetian yesterday that Auchan was ready to implement large investment projects in Yerevan.
YEREVAN, September 29. / ARKA /. Jean-Paul Filliat, international franchising director for Auchan Group’s chain of hypermarkets, told Armenian capital mayor Karen Karapetian yesterday that Auchan was ready to implement large investment projects in Yerevan.

"Yerevan is a serious partner and our company is ready to implement large investment projects here,’ Filliat was quoted as saying by the press service of the City Hall.

The meeting with Yerevan mayor was attended also by top managers of Al Hokair Group international corporation and Spanish Inditex Group, who have arrived in Armenia at the invitation of Tashir Group, headed by prominent Russian-Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetian.

Representatives of Al Hokair Group said they were interested in business and shopping areas in Yerevan, and were discussing with Tashir Group a joint business project, related to Dalma Garden Mall.

Chief manager of Al Hokair Group, Simon Marshall, said that by offering well-known global brands and affordable pricing, the company sees there is a prospect of participation in the development of commercial areas and infrastructure of the Armenian capital. The meeting also discussed the development of business environment in Armenia's capital and retail trade activities in compliance with international standards.

"Yerevan is not only a city with a population over one million, but in view of growth in tourism sector, it provides a fairly attractive environment for retail business,’ mayor Karapetian said, adding that the city administration together with Tashir Group is implementing large-scale programs and there are great opportunities for working together in trade and service sectors.

"Yerevan has a real chance to become a major trading center in the region. All conditions are conducive to this," Karapetian said. -0-
