Statistical report: economic activity in Armenia rises 9.6% in august 2011
YEREVAN, September 30. /ARKA/. Economic activity in Armenia rose 9.6% in August 2011, compared with the same month a year earlier, and 21.3%, compared with the previous month, National Statistical Service of Armenia reports.
In Jan-Aug 2011, economic activity rose 5.8%, compared with the same period a year before.
According to the statistical report, Armenian economy’s construction sector faced 24.7% year-on-year decline in August 2011. Construction carried out in August cost AMD 41.5 billion – 16.3% month-on-month growth.
Industry accounted for 12.5% year-on-year growth in August. Its output totaled AMD 84.2 billion in August – 7.8% month-on-month growth.
Agriculture sector’s output grew 21.3% in Aug 2011, compared with the same month a year earlier, and 61.9%, compared with July 2011, to AMD 130.6 billion.
Armenia’s foreign trade turnover amounted to AMD 188.3 billion or $513.1 million in August 2011 - 25.1% year-on-year growth and 25.8% month-on-month growth.
Services totaled AMD 78.8 billion in Aug 2011 – 4.2% year-on-year growth and 0.4% month-on-month growth.
