Natural gas supplies to Armenia in January-September increase by 7.7 percent

The volume of natural gas supplies to Armenia in January-September 2011 increased by 7.7% over the same period last year to about 1,063.8 billion cubic meters, ArmRosGazprom (ARG) natural gas distributor told ARKA.
YEREVAN, October 19. / ARKA /. The volume of natural gas supplies to Armenia in January-September 2011 increased by 7.7% over the same period last year to about 1,063.8 billion cubic meters, ArmRosGazprom (ARG) natural gas distributor told ARKA.
It said sales in the reporting period of time totalled 1,006.8 billion cubic meters, 5.4% up over the same period last year. Household consumption of natural gas was said to have increased by 3.9% to 353.4 million cubic meters.
Consumption by the power grid was said to have increased by 6.6% to 93.4 million cubic meters, up from 87.5 million cubic meters in the first nine months of 2010.
Automatic gas drive compressor stations (they are liquefied gas stations filling the cars with engines converted to work on natural gas) reported a 12.8% increase in the volume of gas consumption to 260.4 million cubic meters. Other users reported an 18.9% rise to 125 million cubic meters.
ARG press service said natural gas consumption by industrial sector dropped in the first nine months of this year by 6.4% from a year before 175.1 million cubic meters.
ARG is the only company dealing with import and distribution of Russian natural gas coming to Armenia from Russia via Georgia. It was established in 1997. Russian Gazprom holds more than 80 percent in it, the rest is owned by Armenian government. -0-
