The median monthly salary in Armenia rose by 0.3% in October 2011 from September to 114,402 drams, an equivalent of $304, 222 euros or 9,526 Russian rubles, according to the latest data, released by the National Statistical Committee. Compared with median salary in 2010 October the figure represented a 6.7% rise.

The highest median wage of 138,000 drams was again in the southern province of Syunik and the lowest wage of 79,600 drams in central province of Aragatsotn. In the capital city Yerevan it was 114,100 drams. By industries, employees of information and communications sectors had the highest wage of 265,600 drams. They were followed by employees of financial and insurance companies with 254,600 drams The median wage of workers in mining sector was 233, 700 drams.

They were followed by employees in electricity and gas industries with 152,600 drams median wage. Construction workers received 146,500 drams and government officials 131,400 drams.

The lowest paid workers were in recreation and culture sectors (62,800 drams), agriculture, fishing and forestry (79,100 drams), education (80,700 drams) public catering 83,600 drams. ($1 – 381.06 drams).  -0-
