The traffic way of Vardanants-Khanjyan crossroad in the center of Yerevan will be opened in two days, Vice-Mayor of Yerevan Karen Davtyan told reporters.
YEREVAN, October 22. /ARKA/. The traffic way of Vardanants-Khanjyan crossroad in the center of Yerevan will be opened in two days, Vice-Mayor of Yerevan Karen Davtyan told reporters.
“The other day asphalting was finished in this territory and in two days it will be ready for the traffic,” Davtyan said.
He added that during the construction work of underground and ground-based pedestrian passages in the center of Yerevan the workers faced several difficulties, as a result of which some lines of telephone communication, as well as water- and gas-pipes were carried to another place. “However, despite this, the workers were able to meet the deadline,” Davtyan said.
He pointed out that ground-based construction work on the reconstruction of the capital will have been completed by the end of the year. Davtyan added that despite the nearing of winter, underground passages work will not be “frozen” and will be finished in 2008.
According to the governmental decision, Yerevan Municipality implements a number of huge capital programs, in particular, construction of underground and ground-based pedestrian passages on the crossroads of Vardanants-Khanjyan, Nalbandyan-Isahakyan-Alek Manukyan streets, on Myasnikyan Avenue opposite the zoo.
The construction of passages is implemented within the capital’s general plan, according to which it is planned to increase planting, construction of two new avenues – North and Main, alternative roads, and zoning of capital’s communities. L.M. –0--
