YEREVAN, March 12. /ARKA/. Armenia ranked 57th out of 184 countries in the 2025 Index of Economic Freedom, published by the Heritage Foundation.

According to the ranking posted on the foundation's website, Armenia remains among the "moderately free" countries. Armenia scored higher this year than in 2024—65.4 compared to 64.9. However, it ranked 47th last year, and the decline in position is due to improvements made by other countries. In 2023, Armenia was ranked 50th.

In the European region, Armenia is ranked 30th. Among its neighboring countries, Armenia ranks second in terms of economic freedom, just behind Georgia (35th place, "moderately free"), but ahead of Azerbaijan (75th place, same category).

Two other neighboring countries, Turkey and Iran, occupy much lower positions: Turkey is ranked 111th ("mostly unfree"), and Iran is ranked 169th ("repressed economy," meaning it is subject to significant pressure from the authorities).
