Armenia and Russia discuss establishing light industry joint venture

Armenian minister of economic development and investments Suren Karayan and a deputy Russian minister of industry and trade Gleb Nikitin met in Yerevan on September 7 to look into the possibility of setting up a joint venture and selling the jointly-produced goods to third countries.

YEREVAN, September 8. /ARKA/. Armenian minister of economic development and investments Suren Karayan and a deputy Russian minister of industry and trade Gleb Nikitin met in Yerevan on September 7 to look into the possibility of setting up a joint venture and selling the jointly-produced goods to third countries.

The Armenian ministry said the parties reached an agreement on creating a platform for dialogue between Armenian and Russian entrepreneurs specialized in light industry to discuss the possibilities of partnership.

Nikitin was quoted as saying in a press release that ‘cooperation with the Armenian side is one of the priority directions.’ 

Karayan was said to have pointed out the cooperation potential in the field of radio electronics. He also spoke about the opportunities offered to manufacturers by the Meghri free trade zone located on the border with Iran. 

During the meeting, Karayan, Nikitin and the head of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abrahamyan discussed a set of issues related to the holding of the second International Forum of the Eurasian Partnership in Yerevan in October. -0-
