Armenia is quite interesting to Iran as a transit country for supplying Iranian goods to third countries, Hmayak Avetisyan, head of the trade and economic division of Iran's embassy in Armenia, said in an interview with Delovoy Express.

YEREVAN, October 20. /ARKA/. Armenia is quite interesting to Iran as a transit country for supplying Iranian goods to third countries, Hmayak Avetisyan, head of the trade and economic division of Iran's embassy in Armenia, said in an interview with Delovoy Express.
He told the newspaper that the three-million market of Armenia is too small for Iran.
«However, Armenia is quite interesting to Iran's business as a transit country for reaching third countries,» he said. «And therefore, establishment of Armenian-Iranian joint enterprises producing goods that may be imported into Eurasian Economic Union countries is thought to be the most feasible idea.»
In his words, today many Iranian companies are interested in making investments in Armenia, and this makes economic relations between the two countries closer.
«Preventability and diversity of Iranian businessmen's delegations show their interest in Armenia, and the way they learn the procedure of registration of foreign companies in Armenia shows seriousness of their intentions,» Avetisyan said in his interview.
Trade turnover between Armenia and Iran amounts to $300 million, of which exports from Armenia make up only one fifth.
Armenia's export to Iran is dominated by meat, mainly live sheep, and electricity. 0----
