YEREVAN, June 4. /ARKA/. The great number of agreements signed between Armenia and Russia need to be further developed, Russian ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volinkin said Monday.

Some fields are not covered in the existing agreements, some were covered 10-15 years ago and should be updated, the ambassador said at a conference on a joint expedition across Armenia in Novosti international press center.

Armenian vice-speaker Hermine Naghdalyan, in her turn, said tourism is a government-set priority in Armenia’s economic development.

“If there is an international agreement with Russia on tourism it will intensify bilateral ties between tourist organizations and increase tourist visits to Armenia”, Naghdalyan said.

The vice-speaker also expressed hopes that officials will soon start working over the matter.

ArmStat reports that, 128,237 tourists visited Armenia during January-March, a 22.9% increase against the same period of the year before. A total of 843,330 tourists visited Armenia in 2012. -0-
