Armenia’s economic activity hikes 1.8% in January

Armenia’s economic activity index rose by 1.8% in January this year compared to January 2013, ArmStat reported referring to preliminary data.

YEREVAN, February 20. /ARKA/. Armenia’s economic activity index rose by 1.8% in January this year compared to January 2013, ArmStat reported referring to preliminary data.
Consumer prices surged by 5.5% compared to January 2012. A 1.1% year-on-year increase was recorded in industrial producers’ prices, according to ArmStat.
Industrial production output amounted to 87.9 billion drams over the month (3.3% reduction).
Outputs in other sectors were as follows - agriculture 15.9 billion drams (1.7% increase), construction 7.2bln drams (0.4% decline), domestic trade 124.9bln drams (4.6% increase) and services 78.4bln drams (7.2% increase).
Armenia’s foreign trade turnover was about $391.7mln as of the end of January, a reduction of 3.3% compared to January the year before.
A 5.2% GDP growth is planned for 2014 under the government budget. ($1=412.19drams). –0--
