Armenia’s foreign trade in 10 months grows by 6.1 percent

Armenia’s foreign trade turnover in January-October 2016 increased by 6.1% from the same time span of 2015 to about $.4.067 billion, according to the latest numbers, released today by the National Statistical Service (NSS).

YEREVAN, November 30. / ARKA /. Armenia’s foreign trade turnover in January-October 2016 increased by 6.1% from the same time span of 2015 to about $.4.067 billion, according to the latest numbers, released today by the National Statistical Service (NSS).

Armenia’s exports are said to have grown by 19.8% to about $.1.453.7 billion, while imports decreased by 0.3% to $2.613.3 billion. The resulting trade deficit stood at $1.159.6 billion. The trade deficit in FOB prices was approximately $757.2 million, NSS said.

Armenia's foreign trade turnover with CIS countries in the reporting period grew by almost 10% to about $1.218.4 billion (30% of the total), with trade with Russia surging by 13.4% to $1.076.8 billion.  The trade with Ukraine declined by 17.5% to $87.5 million, with Belarus grew by 12.2% to $29.8 million, trade with Kazakhstan soared by 55.4% to $5.8 million and trade with Turkmenistan fell by 29.4% to about $10.7 million.

Armenia’s trade with the EU countries in January-October 2016 amounted to approximately $978.3 million, an increase of 0.7% year-on-year. (24.1% of the total), and trade with other countries amounted to $1.870 3 billion, an increase of 6.6%  (46 % of the total).

According to NSS,  exports of mining industry products declined by 3.6% to about  $386.2 million, exports of finished food grew by 28.3% to about $329.5 million and exports of precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals and articles skyrocketed by 85%  to about $287.7 million.

Also imports of mining industry products declined by 9.6% to about $463.2 million, imports of machinery, equipment and mechanisms grew by 12.1% to  $366.7 million and imports of finished foods grew by 8.5% to  $274.7 million. ($ 1 - 480.11 drams). -0-
