YEREVAN, January 23. /ARKA/. Armenia's milk production in 2019 is estimated to be about 700 thousand metric tons, Economy Minister Tigran Khachatryan said at a government meeting on Thursday. He said preliminary estimates show that the domestic consumption is approximately 1 million tons.
"This means if we increase the local production of milk by 40% and stop exports, then domestically produced milk will be enough to meet domestic consumption," he said.
However, the minister added that the 1 million threshold will hardly be achieved in the coming years, therefore, all investors in milk production should not worry about their sales.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan asked whether that meant that regardless of the season prices for milk suppliers will remain at the level of 180-190 drams per liter (almost $0.4)”. Khachatryan replied in the affirmative, noting that an important role is given to the quality of the product. -0--
