YEREVAN, July 3. /ARKA/. Armenian authorities are not discussing the issue of nationalization of water supply operator – “Veolia Jur” company, Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan said on Wednesday.

At a meeting of the parliamentary commission on economic issues, Khudatyan explained that the entire infrastructure of “Veolia Jur” belongs to the state, therefore, there is no issue of nationalization, the company itself carries out trust management of the country's water sector.

"As the head of the relevant ministry, I believe that there are numerous omissions in the work of Veolia Jur, which have been recorded by the Public Services Regulatory Commission," he noted.

At the same time, Khudatyan indicated that there is no connection between Veolia Jur and the Electric Networks of Armenia company (owned by the president of Tashir Group Samvel Karapetyan, who was arrested on charges of publicly calling for the seizure of power; a "nationalization process" has been launched against ENA - ed.).

Earlier, it was reported that the Yerevan City Hall sent a letter to the government and the Water Management Committee of Armenia with a proposal to review and regulate contractual relations with Veolia Jur CJSC due to problems with sewerage and drainage in the capital.

About the water supply operator company

Veolia Jur CJSC is a subsidiary of the French Veolia Generale des Eaux, and is the sole operator of water supply and drainage in Yerevan and a number of regions of Armenia. Since January 1, 2017, Veolia Djur has been managing the property of five companies: Yerevan-Jur, Armvodokanal, Shirak Vodokanal, Lori Vodokanal and Nor Akunk, according to a concession agreement for a period of 15 years.
