Armenian card payment system issued 37,709 plastic cards in October, which is 3.2% higher from a year earlier, the company told ARKA on Wednesday.
YEREVAN, November 21. /ARKA/. Armenian card payment system issued 37,709 plastic cards in October, which is 3.2% higher from a year earlier, the company told ARKA on Wednesday.
According to the data, the system issued 13,831 ArCa cards ( 23.2% drop from last year’s September), 12,045 Visa cards (58.8% growth) and 11,833 MasterCard cards (8% hike).
The total number of active transaction cards rose 33.2% to over 963,000 in October from a year earlier.
The number of transacted cards within the reported period rose to 658,916 from 479,259, of them 342,755 were ArCa cards (28.3% jump),
171,629 -Visa cards (40.5% rise), 144,532 – MasterCard cards (60.6% growth).
Also, according to the company, the share of all transacted plastic cards in the number of active cards of all types was 68% as of October.
Armenian Card CJSC was established on March 16, 2000 as a national system for payments made by plastic cards.Today 19 of Armenia’s 21 commercial banks in different terms use ArCa payment system.There are various ArCa-based products – ArCa Debit, ArCa Classic, ArCa Gold, ArCa Business, ArCa Affinity, ArCa Co-branded, ArCa Platinum as well as ArCa pension cards.The company is a full member of MasterCard Europe international system.
