YEREVAN, February 25. / ARKA /. Armenian exports in 2015 January 'recorded a slight decrease,' economy minister Karen Chshmarityan said during a parliamentary Q&A session today.
According to official data, Armenia's foreign trade in January 2015 slashed by 30.4% from 2014 January to approximately $272.5 million -exports dropped by 21.9% to $5.6 million, while imports fell by 33.2% to approximately $196.9 million. The resulting foreign trade deficit was $121.3 million.
The minister said foreign trade turnover figures for 2015 January did not include Armenia’s trade with Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, its partner members in the Eurasian Economic Union, which usually account for 26-28% of Armenia’s foreign trade.
'If we add this figure to January’s data the drop in exports will be even less - about $3 million per every $100 million. If we take into account the inflation and the fluctuating exchange rate we will have even a slight rise in exports,' he said.
According to the National Statistical Service, Armenia's foreign trade in 2014 increased by 1% from the previous year to about $5.921 billion. -0-
