The Armenian government should be depoliticized so that be able to attract professionals for the development of the economy regardless of their party or other affiliations, businessman Yervand Tarverdyan said during a discussion on the post-war economy on Armenian Public TV.

YEREVAN, November 30. /ARKA/. The Armenian government should be depoliticized so that be able to attract professionals for the development of the economy regardless of their party or other affiliations, businessman Yervand Tarverdyan said during a discussion on the post-war economy on Armenian Public TV.
According to him, it is necessary, first of all, to analyze in which areas there is untapped potential that can be developed.
“But there is another problem - if before the coronavirus and the war investments in Armenia were quite risky, now, in my opinion, not a single businessman or financial structure will even want to think about investments until the final stabilization in the region,” Tarverdyan said.
According to him, the role of the government is to create investment opportunities through budgetary and extra-budgetary funds.
“We understand that taxes should increase, I say this proceeding from my logic - if there are large expenses and the need to restore military resources and other things, and no one will give us anything for free, therefore, taxes should be raised. But in such conditions, it is necessary for the government to work very objectively and efficiently,” Tarverdyan said.
He stressed that often importance is attached to human resources, but at the same time the society is divided into the present and the former.
“Why don't we attract good specialists from the previous government? The issue is not about party affiliation, it is necessary to depoliticize the government; let the current ruling party take responsibility for the political component, but the people who should really work should be chosen from among the professionals,” Tarverdyan said.
According to him, now it is necessary to develop the economy, and for this it is necessary that business and government work very closely.
“There is no need to wait for problems in order to unite. Now business is trying to diversify its resources and export some part of them, so as not to concentrate on one country. With open borders, diversification will be faster. Therefore, the government should use this short period, while the borders are closed, until the end of spring and the end of the coronavirus, in order to preserve and develop all opportunities,” Tarverdyan said. -0-
