Armenian lawmakers willing to ensure transparency of consumption of water resources

The National Assembly of Armenia passed Tuesday amendments to the law on water consumption by companies and unions of water consumers. Mikael Melkumyan, a member of Prosperous Armenia faction in the parliament, said that the amendments propose to set common standards for all water consumers and provide all with equal conditions in the event of the shortage of water resources.

YEREVAN, September 10. /ARKA/. The National Assembly of Armenia passed Tuesday amendments to the law on water consumption by companies and unions of water consumers. Mikael Melkumyan, a member of Prosperous Armenia faction in the parliament, said that the amendments propose to set common standards for all water consumers and provide all with equal conditions in the event of the shortage of water resources.
In his words, the initiative has been discussed with appropriate agencies and an approach has been found to ensure transparency of the water distribution process.
Vardan Melkonyan, head of the territorial administration ministry's water committee, on his side, said that many abuse cases were reported in this area, and this legislative initiative is aimed at lessening risks of illegal consumption of water and enhancing transparency of distribution of water resources. -0---
