YEREVAN, June 19./ARKA/. Businessmen from Armenia and Russia’s Perm region are discussing the prospects for further cooperation in Yerevan, 18-21 June.
“Perm region has quite developed engineering, chemical and wood industry, and we would like to promote our production here,” Yelena Mironova, vice president of Perm’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told reporters.
She has noted the trade turnover between Perm region and Armenia is low now primarily due to communications issues.
“It is pretty expensive to deliver heavy cargos here, that’s why our forester didn’t make it to come here, even though they wanted it very much. Here are some little-ton producers in Yerevan this time… They have registered for this meeting because they really want to find partners here,” she said.
Mironova has also said Perm’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry is one of the largest ones in Russia.
Karen Martirosyan, executive director of Yerevan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has highlighted the interest of Russian subjects in cooperating with Armenia.
“The Russian regions are pretty active now, they are willing to collaborate with Armenia. We see and feel it in our routine,” he said.
Trade turnover between Russia and Armenia valued at $1.3 billion in 2012 which was by 20.3% higher from 2011.—0-
