YEREVAN, October 8. / ARKA /. Armenian Central Bank expects now the economy to grow by 2.5-3.5% in 2015 and by 3.5-4.5% in 2016, deputy governor of the Central Bank, Nerses Yeritsyan said Tuesday.

Speaking at parliament on Tuesday Yeritsyan said the inflation rate now was within the projected target band enabling a long-lasting and stable economic growth.

"We need today to ensure a stable and low inflation, which is the only guarantee of stability and long-term economic growth," the deputy governor said, adding that inflation should not exceed 2-5%; otherwise a rise in prices of essential commodities would cut population's incomes.

According to the National Statistical Service, the 12-month inflation in August was 3.6%. In September the Central Bank left the refinancing rate unchanged at 10.25%. The government projection of inflation for 2015 is 4% (± 1.5%). It also expects the GDP to grow by 4.1%. ($ 1 - 480.33 drams). -0
