The European Union is ready to provide Armenia with business lending in its national currency, Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations said at a briefing in Yerevan today with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

YEREVAN, October 2. /ARKA/. The European Union is ready to provide Armenia with business lending in its national currency, Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations said at a briefing in Yerevan today with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.
Johannes Hahn has arrived in Armenia to prepare for the Eastern Partnership Summit, slated for 24th of November in Brussels. In Yerevan he is to meet President Serzh Sargsyan, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, Foreign Affairs Minister Edward Nalbandian, to discuss the priorities of the Eastern Partnership Summit and the deepening of EU-Armenia relations, which is reflected in the new EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and Partnership Priorities which will set the joint policy priorities for the coming years.
Hahn noted that in Brussels the EU will unveil a new initiative, designed to provide loans to the member countries of the Eastern Partnership program, which includes Armenia, in their national currencies.
He said loans in the national currency are instrumental for small and medium-sized businesses, because it is not easy for them to raise funds in foreign currency.
"It is in our interests to have a strong, stable and prosperous Armenia in the South Caucasus, which will further strengthen our "neighborhood, "he said. -0-
