Food prices in Armenia down 0.5% in March

Prices for foods in Armenia slipped 0.5% in March 2016, compared with the previous month, the National Statistical Service reports.

YEREVAN, April 7. /ARKA/. Prices for foods in Armenia slipped 0.5% in March 2016, compared with the previous month, the National Statistical Service reports.
This was mainly due to 1.7-0.5% decrease in prices for vegetables, potatoes, eggs, fish products and fruits.
According to the statistical report, prices for vegetables and potatoes went 1% down in March 2016, compared with March 2015, and compared with February 2016, they fell 1.7%.
In March 2016, compared with the same month a year earlier, fruits prices fell 23%, and compared with the previous month, they slid 0.5%.
The average price for eggs shed 13.9% in March 2016, compared with the same month a year before, and compared with February 2016, it slid 1.2%.
Meat products became 5.7% c heaper over one year and 0.4% cheaper over one month.
In March 2016, compared with February 2016, prices for bread and bakery products went 0.3% down.
Dairy products slipped 0.2%, adipose and vegetable oil 0.3% and other products 0.2%.
Sugar prices in the country rose 1%, coffee, tea and cocoa went 0.2% up, soft drinks 0.2% and confectionery 0.4%.
The National Statistical Service of Armenia says consumer prices in Armenia dropped 2% in March 2016, compared with March 2015.
In the government budget for 2016, inflation is projected at 4% (±1.5%) and GDP growth at 2.2%. -0---
This was mainly due to 1.7-0.5% decrease in prices for vegetables, potatoes, eggs, fish products and fruits.
