Former CEO of Multi Group and director of one of the concern's companies detained in Armenia

The Investigative Committee of Armenia reports the detention of the chairman of the board of directors and former CEO of Multi Group, S.A. (Sedrak Arustamyan - ed.), and the director of one of the concern's companies, A.D. (Artur Dallakyan - ed.), in criminal proceedings for alleged large-scale fraud and money laundering.

YEREVAN, August 5. /ARKA/. The Investigative Committee of Armenia reports the detention of the chairman of the board of directors and former CEO of Multi Group, S.A. (Sedrak Arustamyan - ed.), and the director of one of the concern's companies, A.D. (Artur Dallakyan - ed.), in criminal proceedings for alleged large-scale fraud and money laundering.

According to the Investigative Committee, the Main Department for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Smuggling is investigating the circumstances of the alleged theft of property and funds worth more than 8.12 billion drams (equivalent to more than $21.72 million) by G.Ts. (Gagik Tsarukyan) and other individuals, as well as their laundering.

Based on the evidence collected, a public criminal prosecution has been initiated against Arustamyan and Dallakyan for aiding and abetting large-scale fraud and aiding and abetting large-scale money laundering. They were detained on August 5 for appearance in court.

According to Armenian media, A.D. (Artur Dallakyan) is the director of Multi Transport, a company within the Multi Group concern.

In late July, the Investigative Committee announced the initiation of a public criminal prosecution against the director of Multi Transport for large-scale tax evasion. House arrest has been imposed as a preventive measure.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing.

A suspect or accused of an alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision, in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia.
