Freight traffic in Armenia grew by 12.9% in January, passenger traffic declined by 20.8%

YEREVAN, March 10. /ARKA/. The total freight traffic in Armenia in January 2025 amounted to 1,117.6 thousand tons, increasing by 12.9% compared to January 2024, while the total passenger traffic amounted to 12,728.6 thousand with a 20.8% decline, according to the National Statistical Committee.
Freight transportation
Some 740.8 thousand tons in the total freight traffic was accounted for by road transport (9.7% growth compared to January last year), 1,957.2 thousand tons - by main pipeline transport (8.3% growth), 116.5 thousand tons - by railway transport (56% growth) and 3.1 thousand tons - by air transport (29.2% growth).
Passenger transportation
In the total passenger traffic, 10,227.7 thousand people were transported by road transport (22.4% growth), 2,073.6 thousand people by electric transport (16.3% decline), 392.8 thousand people by air transport (6.6% growth) and 34.5 thousand people by rail transport (7% decline).
Road accidents
In January this year, 340 road accidents were reported, which is 6.9% more than in January last year. 16 people died in road accidents (11.1% decrease), 496 people were injured (4.4% increase).
Postal and Courier Services
In January 2025, revenue from postal and courier services totaled AMD 1,809.9 million, up 18% ($1 - AMD 394.73) compared to January 2024 -0-
