YEREVAN, November 30. /ARKA/. Following a series of debates on next year’s draft budget the government has increased the spending by 15 billion drams, finance minister Vardan Aramyan said at a government meeting on Thursday.
He said the military budget was increased by 1 billion drams, and another 1.3 billion drams were earmarked as an allocation to the State Water Committee, which will transfer the money to the national single water distribution operator Veolia Jur, a subsidiary of French Veolia Generale des Eaux as a compensation for the latest rise in drinking water price. As a result the price for households will not change, although on November 22 the Public Services Regulatory Commission allowed the hike.
The minister said also the budget of the government administration is proposed to increase by 1.7 billion drams. The decision is backed by the country’s transition to parliamentary republic from 2018 April. The minister added that the health ministry’s budget would grow by 4 billion drams, as insisted by many lawmakers.
He also noted that the reserve fund of the government will also be increased by 4 billion drams to finance the implementation of a number of major projects that may require additional costs.
The original draft budget approved by the Armenian government on September 28 calls for 1 trillion and 307 billion drams in revenues and 1 trillion and 464.2 billion drams in spending. The projected deficit is 156.9 billion drams. ($ 1 - 484.33 drams). -0-
