Government to subsidize part of diesel fuel cost for farmers

The Armenian government has approved on Thursday a decision to subsidize part of diesel fuel cost for farmers.
YEREVAN, February 2. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has approved on Thursday a decision to subsidize part of diesel fuel cost for farmers.

"The goal of this plan is to make diesel fuel available to farmers in all communities. We expect it to contribute to expansion of land under crops," prime minister Tigran Sarkisian said at a Cabinet session.

According to him, diesel fuel is an important component of the cost of agricultural products.

"We have chosen a supplier. It is Flash oil trader that supplied diesel fuel at the lowest prices over the last three months and besides, it can deliver diesel fuel to customers in the communities," Tigran Sarkisian said.

As a result of subsidies, one liter of diesel fuel will be sold to farmers at 350 drams, by 90 drams cheaper than the market price.

Flash was founded in 1995. The company controls about 43 % of petroleum and diesel fuel market. It runs 60 petrol stations in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, of which 13 are in Yerevan. -0-
