YEREVAN, June 2. /ARKA/. The Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia reports a ban on the import of 213 tons of watermelons with high nitrate content into the country.

"As part of the state border control, samples of watermelons from a batch of 557 tons were selected for testing on May 26-31, 2025. A laboratory examination was conducted, according to the results of which, as of June 1, the import of 213 tons of berries was banned due to the discrepancy between the nitrate content and the required indicators," the press service of the regulator reported.

The inspection reported that the results of the studies of the remaining batch of watermelons will be published as soon as the examinations are ready.
