Manufacturer of Russian ice cream banned from import to Armenia claims no quality violations

YEREVAN, July 3. /ARKA/. The manufacturer of the "Korovka iz Korenovka" ice cream - OOO "Fabrika iz osnovegogo" (part of the Renna Group) has not received official conclusions from Armenia regarding the batch of ice cream, which, according to the country's inspection bodies, did not comply with the Customs Union standards for the content of E. coli bacteria, the Renna Group told Interfax.
"We are talking about a batch of ice cream "Eskimo plombir vanilla in chocolate-cream glaze", produced on March 7, 2025. There are no other restrictions on the import of our products to the territory of Armenia, the ice cream is shipped and sold. At the moment, we still do not have official conclusions from the Armenian side, we expect to receive them in the near future. For our part, we can note that before shipping this batch for export, quality control was carried out. No violations were found. After receiving a signal from partners, we re-checked the products - laboratory tests also did not reveal any violations," the representative of the Group of Companies said.
The deviations in question can potentially occur in the process of violating the conditions of transportation, storage and sale of products, or when opening a sample, getting on the product from the outside of the package, added Rennes.
"At the moment, we are in contact with our Armenian colleagues and supervisory authorities to monitor the situation," the group of companies also clarified.
Armenia has temporarily banned the import of a batch of popsicles produced by the Russian company "Fabrika iznogo morozhenogo" LLC, manufactured on March 7, 2025. According to the RA Food Safety Inspectorate, due to the non-compliance of the batch with the standards established by the technical regulations of the Customs Union for the content of E. coli bacteria, an order was issued to ban its sale, recall it from the market, destroy it or dispose of it.
It was specified that the ban applies to batches imported after July 2, 2025 and does not apply to products imported before this date.
"We are in daily contact with our Russian colleagues, all issues are discussed and agreed upon in an accelerated working mode," the inspection said.
"Fabrika iznogo morozhenogo" is one of the leading ice cream manufacturers in Russia, the enterprise is located in the Krasnodar Territory. In 2024, the ice cream production at the plant exceeded 55 thousand tons.
