New technical requirements to be put to small hydro power plants in Armenia
YEREVAN, January 18. /ARKA/. Technical support of hydro power plants in Armenia is quite improper, and this has adverse impacts on production of electric energy, the press office of Armenia’s energy infrastructure and natural resources ministry said on Wednesday.

Taking into account this circumstance, the ministry is planning to set technical criteria to lay groundwork for putting things right.

Hayk Badalyan, the head of the ministry’s renewable energy and energy saving agency, said cheap and not licensed equipment mostly imported from Russia, China and the EU is deployed at the small hydro power plants.

There are no national standards and technical requirements in Armenia for use of equipment.

The new technical criteria are expected to allow improving small hydro power plants and ensure their stable development, which will enhance security of Armenia’s energy system.
