One thousand tons of apricots exported from Armenia daily

Armenia is exporting about one thousand tons of apricots daily, minister of agriculture, Sergo Karapetyan said today during a visit to Ararat region.

YEREVAN, June 24. / ARKA /. Armenia is exporting about one thousand tons of apricots daily, minister of agriculture, Sergo Karapetyan said today during a visit to Ararat region.
He said Armenia has already exported 5,500 tons of apricots, mainly to Russia, where demand for Armenian apricots has grown after frosts had damaged apricots in Uzbekistan, one of the major exporters of apricots to Russia.
According to him, this year Armenia has already exported about 30,000 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables, up from 24,300 tons from the year before. Karapetyan also said that land under crops in Ararat region has grown by one thousand hectares this year to overall 24,000 hectares. -0-
