YEREVAN, September 25. /ARKA/. 52.4% of respondents in Armenia stated that the restrictions imposed by Russia on the import of Armenian products are intended to exert economic pressure on the republic's leadership. These findings come from a survey conducted by the Gallup International Association.
"40.5% of respondents believe the restrictions stem from Armenia's aspirations to join the European Union, while 5.1% noted that they are linked to quality issues regarding Armenian products," said Aram Navasardyan, head of the Gallup International Association's Armenian office.
A total of 1,001 people participated in the telephone survey, which was conducted in Armenia from September 22 to 24.
Regarding restrictions on the supply of Armenian products to the Russian Federation
Since late May, Russia has been phasing in restrictions on the supply of various products from Armenia, citing violations of phytosanitary requirements. The restrictions have affected flowers, mineral water, certain beverages and alcoholic products, vegetables, fruits, berries, grapes, potatoes, and dried fruits, as well as—more recently—live fish, fish products, and dairy products.
The restrictions also include a ban on the transit of Armenian-origin products through Russian territory to other EAEU countries.
