STEPANAKERT, June 18. /ARKA/. Over 41 million cubic meters of natural gas was imported to Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) in 2013, a 0.2% increase compared to 2012, executive director of Artsakhgas company Seyran Mikaelyan said at an annual company meeting attended by the premier, members of the parliament and the government.

Yet, the volume consumed by population dropped by 6% compared to last year, Mikaelyan said.
Gas lines were laid in seven towns and 78 villages of the country. The company is currently carrying out works to ensure safety, repair and maintenance of the installations, Mikaelyan said.

The director of the company stressed the need for replacement of the existing equipment and repair of the buildings.

NKR’s premier, in his turn, said the volume of gas imports will be maintained, but gas infrastructure development will be undertaken only when required.

Gas consumption will be increased mainly along with expansion of industries, the premier said. He said works are under way to improve the buildings.

The head of the government suggested increasing the company staff wages by 20% up to the average country level as from July 1. –0--
